Commemoration of the Birth of our Prophet (peace be upon him)
2 April 2007
On 2 April 2007, Affinity Intercultural Foundation and the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta held ‘Trustworthiness and Faithfulness of God’s Messengers’ a panel reflecting the trustworthiness and faithfulness of Jesus (peace be upon him) and Muhammad (peace be upon him).
This event was held in the beautiful venue of St Patrick’s Cathedral Hall in Parramatta. Upon arrival the guests received a single red rose which has become a tradition with these special events.
Revd Herman Roburgh SJ was invited to speak about Jesus (pbuh) and Imam Salih Yucel DMin was invited to speak about Muhammad (pbuh), both of whom were international Keynote speakers. The MC for the night was Revd Gerry Iverson.
The talks were followed by Q&A where there were some very interesting questions asked like ‘what did the Prophets say about war?’ and ‘If Jesus (pbuh) and Muhammad (pbuh) were to meet what would their dialogue be like?’
This was followed by songs on our Prophet (pbuh) which were performed beautifully.
The night ended with some closing remarks made by Mr Mehmet Ozalp. He thanked all the speakers and again emphasised the need for interfaith dialogue.
