Baulkham Hills Talk

Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th May

St Vincent De Paul Society initiated a Professional Development Day for NSW Primary Teachers, supported by the Catholic Education Offices of Parramatta, Sydney, Broken Bay and Wollongong. At St Joseph Retreat Centre in Baulkam Hills.

Their theme was ‘sharing the dream’ – aimed at assisting NSW teachers to gain further education on social justice issues, explore and receive resources they could incorporate into their teaching programs.

Miss Aisha Meguid from Affinity was invited to come and present two workshops on Islam and Interfaith.  Mr Hussam Deeb from Affinity had been invited to presented workshops the day before.

Aisha started the workshop by eliminating the misconceptions in Islam, so she addressed them first by way of illustrating – what Islam is all about – the essence being -‘ones relationship to God’ and how this acts as a mirror of ones relationship to humanity– articles of faith – the sublime role model of the Prophet…and briefly what Islam teaches about peace, justice and social issues.

To demonstrate practical examples, Aisha spoke about Affinity, their aims / objectives, positive results of  their interfaith and youth projects in terms of greater understanding and enriching experiences.
