Talk at Sutherland United Services Club
Wednesday 16th May
On Wednesday, 16th May 2007, Mr Sadiq Ansari and Miss Makiz Ansari gave a talk to a group of people at Sutherland United Services Club.
This month's theme was "How to live in a world with religious prejudice". Miss Ansari spoke about her own spiritual journey to Islam and her discovery with mind & sight of God. Mr Ansari then spoke about the five Onenesses in Islam; the oneness of God, the oneness of the message, the oneness of prophets, the oneness of humanity and the oneness of life.
In regards to the theme, the two stances given were:
1. There really is no 'religious prejudice per se, because prejudice is a 'pre' judegment or assertion about something which really means that there
is no true education on the subject to which one is being prejudiced towards...in other words it is ignorance not 'religions' that creates prejudice.
2. The other side would be that there is lack of (faithful) conviction that leads to religous prejudice' .. this is the uncertainty that makes people's worldviews shaky and thus with doubtful minds people (readily) take the prejudices when they do
