The 2007 tour of Turkey

There were 6 Uniting Church representatives with 4 of them from leading and influential positions within the NSW Synod of the Church. There were 3 Catholics in the touring party with an Education, Law and Media focus.

Very strong friendships were formed during the tour with some of the testimonials as outlined below:

  1. Turkish Muslims are very hospitable and generous. – NSW Department of Education
  2. It is amazing how cheap this tour was for what you have offered us. A trip like this would have cost us in excess of $5,000 should we have done it on our own. – Lawyer
  3. It would have been impossible to get to know how Turkish Muslims are if we had not gone in to their private space in their homes. – Retired Nurse
  4. I couldn’t have imagined this type of generosity and hospitality as I have experienced from the people we have visited thus far. – Religious Education Curriculum Coordinator for South-West Region Catholic Schools
  5. It is amazing to see that ~90 years ago we came to your shores for the wrong reasons to fight you, however you have forgiven us and invited us not only to your own country but in to your own homes. This is an incredible act of forgiveness. – Moderator Uniting Church
  6. Turkey is seen by the West as a role model for Muslim nations along with Indonesia. – Former Producer ABC Four Corners
