On the 10th of May 2010, a delegation from Brunei Religious Affairs Ministry visited the Affinity Centre, which was organised by Dept of Foreign Affairs & Trade (DFAT). The group were brought to Australia by Ben Lavis from DFAT and included Mr Haji Mahdi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Brunei Darussalam, who was accompanied by 3 other Bruneian officials, the Director of Islamic Studies, an officer from the Dakwah Centre and an officer from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Affinity President Mehmet Saral gave the group a presentation about the dialogue work Affinity has undertaken over the last nearly 10 years in building bridges in Australia. Also present at the meeting was Affinity Secretary Ms Rahile Ansari.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Brunei Darussalam Mr Mahdi was very interested in the work Affinity are doing and questions about how Affinity works to be a leading organisation in intercultural and interfaith activities from the Muslim community. Further discussions were held over tea and coffee. Afterwards Mr Saral and Mr Mahdi exchanged publications each organisation had produced.
