On Friday, October 22, 2010, the Abraham Conference Steering Committee Members comprised of Affinity, Sydney Catholic Archdiocese, NSW Jewish Board of Deputies, Uniting Church Synod of NSW & ACT along with the Columban Mission Institute, presented a $2,500 cheque to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
The cheque was presented by Mr Mehmet Saral, Chairperson of the Abraham Conference Steering Committee, to Ms Lucy Davis from the Hospitals Community Events Area.
Mr Saral said that as joint members of the Abrahamic faith traditions, it is important to show the legacy of charity that all our 3 respective faiths encompass as a very important practice and what a better place to give in charity to an institute such as the Children’s Hospital, which is non-denominational and accepted by all Australian’s alike – faith or no-faith.
The Abraham Conference was a pioneering event initiated by Affinity back in 2002 and along with its partners has been continuing annually since, with the last one being held at Mary MacKillop Place in North Sydney on 1st of August 2010.
See (Media Release: Abraham Conference 2010) for details of the last Abraham Conference.
