On Sunday, 26 September, Affinity President Mehmet Saral was asked to speak at the Muslim Eid Festival (MEFF) VIP Luncheon. Mehmet mentioned the great work that the MEFF committee had done over the last 26 years to bring the Festival to attract more than 30,000 guests in a single day of festivities. He mentioned that whilst Affinity was nearing a decade of serving the community in building harmony, MEFF had completed over a quarter of a century of serving the community and need to be commended for their efforts. At the main program, the Premier of NSW The Hon Kristina Keneally MP addressed the audience where she said, "The multicultural Eid Festival is an opportunity to celebrate the rich and diverse cultures and traditions we are exposed to in NSW. Differences in language, culture and faith [are] things which strengthen society."
